ARC Review: The Girl in The Clockwork Collar

*May Contain Spoilers if you have not read The Girl In The Steel Corset

Hi! I just got the chance to read the sequel to The Girl in the Steel Corset, The Girl in the Clockwork Caller. I was so excited to read this one and jumped right into it. The sequel did not disappoint.

The book jumps in where things left off in England, with everybody preparing to go to the U.S rescue Jasper. At the beginning of the book, there is a lot of secrecy surrounding Jasper's past and what has been going on with him. Finley is still as strong and independent as ever and Griffin starts doubting if she is ever going to stick around for long. The characters start out being pretty much the same; but over the course of the book, all the characters grow a lot stronger and mature.

For the not so great, I thought the book was kind long for all the content it contained in it. I found myself getting bored with how drawn out certain things were. Also, the romance was extremely minimal and was not as good as it could have been.

The Girl in The Clockwork Caller was entertaining and there was also a pretty major twist in the end that made a huge difference in how the story played out. Also, I found myself being able to emphasize more with Finley and Griffin. I definitely liked Finley a lot more. Overall, this book was a pretty good read, so that I would give 3 out of 5 stars.

In New York City, 1897, life has never been more thrilling - or dangerous.

Sixteen-year-old Finley Jayne and her "straynge band of mysfits" have journeyed from London to America to rescue their friend Jasper, hauled off by bounty hunters. But Jasper is in the clutches of a devious former friend demanding a trade-the dangerous device Jasper stole from him...for the life of the girl Jasper loves.

One false move from Jasper and the strange clockwork collar around Mei's neck tightens. And tightens.

  1. Great review. I agree there could have been more romance, and a few things were dragged out. However, I liked this book more than the last one. I enjoyed both books enough to continue the series.
