Evie's always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she's falling for a shape-shifter, and she's the only person who can see through paranormals' glamours.
But Evie's about to realize that she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.
So much for normal.
I've heard so many good things about the Paranormalcy trilogy, and Mind Games is one of my most anticipated 2013 releases, so I thought it would be great to read Paranormalcy. I ended up really enjoying it! Evie was a great heroine and it turned out to be one of the most unique paranormal books I've ever read :)
Paranormalcy follows a girl, Evie, who works for IPCA- a group that helps contain and keep parnanormals as separate from the human world as possible. One day, a shapeshifter named Lend, stumbles into IPCA at the same time that several different bad events keep unfolding. She starts to realize that her only home has way more secrets than she ever thought it did.
At first, the beginning of Paranormalcy started off slow. It ended up getting much more interesting, though. Evie was a great character, who loved pink (my favorite color ;) and she was hilarious! When Lend broke into IPCA, I thought it was really funny how he hadn't thought out what exactly what he was going to do once he arrived. He was a super sweet guy, which is always great to read about in my opinion. The other love interest was Evie's ex- Reth, a fairy. He wasn't the friendly kind, although he was sparkly ;) He also wasn't entirely over Evie. I loved Lend, and he was the guy Evie preferred from the very beginning of the book. There wasn't much of a love triangle, which I liked.
The plot was interesting, too. Most of the paranormal creatures were different than what I expected them to be like. The vampires were so funny, especially all the comebacks Evie had when she was catching them. It was super unique!
Paranormalcy had awesome characters and an interesting plot. I'd give it 4 out of 5 flowers, only because the beginning was kind of slow. Besides that, it was a great book!
