Opal by Jennifer Armentrout Book Review

No one is like Daemon Black.
Opal (Lux, #3) When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.
But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth pu
ts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable of. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger... and they know it.
I’ve been waiting to read Opal for what seems like forever, so I incredible excited when it finally came out. It seriously took almost all my power not to buy it on Kindle the second it came out and wait to just get my paperback copy. It was definitely worth the wait!

Jennifer Armentrout is an amazing author, and her writing was still great. I loved the constant humor and the dialogue that kept me entertained the entire time. Most of the book is build up to the events that happen at the end of it, so I’ll admit I was kind of bored at the beginning. Things pretty quickly got interesting again, though, which I was relieved about.

Daemon is one of my favorite fiction guys, ever. He’s just so funny and in Opal, you got to see many different sides of him. It made him seem more human (although he isn’t exactly human ;) I had somewhat conflicted feelings about Katy. She’s changed a lot since Onyx, and the different events that occurred in there. I understand why she was so much more mature about everything, but I wish she still had a few more of her older qualities.

The relationship between Katy and Daemon also got a lot steamier. They had some arguments and stuff, but ultimately, I thought they were perfect together. So many people had changed since the last book, and I was really surprised by the change a few of the characters underwent. Also, there was some really shocking things that happened and people that returned. I found how Daemon always tried to protect Katy super admirable.

Lastly, the ending was so amazing and also so horrible. It was a major cliffhanger, and I want to read Origin (the next book) more than ever. I guess it’s really only about 6 months *sigh* There are so many amazing titles coming out next year, so I’ll probably be able to make the wait ;) Overall, I’d give Opal 4 1/2 out of 5 flowers. Jennifer Armentrout never fails to let me down.
