Boundless by Cynthia Hand Book Review

Boundless (Unearthly, #3)
The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life. Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place. As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfil her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.
In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all
.

Warning: If you haven't read the two previous books in this trilogy, there may be a few slight spoilers. If you would like to read this review spoiler free for those books, just skip over the second paragraph. Thank you!

I have been looking forward to the conclusion to the Unearthly trilogy for what feels like forever. It was an amazing conclusion, and I think it ended the series perfectly!

In Hallowed, Clara left Tucker behind, which broke my heart. I’m guessing it’s pretty obvious which team I’m on. My one complaint about Boundless is that there was very little Tucker. There was a lot more Christian, though.

I grew to like Christian a lot in Boundless. In the previous books, I didn’t get the appeal so much, but I definitely understand it now. He was very kind, sweet and he definitely cared greatly for Clara. In previous books, I didn’t think he was that genuine, but I definitely saw it more in this one :)

Like I mentioned, there’s weren’t too many scenes with Tucker in Boundless. I did absolutely love every scene that did have him in it, though. He was one of my favorite book guys ever. He just has so many great qualities. I’ve always liked Clara as a main character, and I thought she was still just as awesome as always in Boundless. She is such a strong person to have to go through everything that she does, but she’s not necessarily fearless. I like when the heroine is still relatable in that sense.

The plot was also incredible! There were so many shocking things that occurred that I never saw coming. Clara is in a lot of danger, especially with the Black Wings getting even closer. Especially as all the purpose’s became unraveled, a lot of things changed for everyone. I read Boundless late at night and literally could not put it down. I needed to know what would happen. The ending of Boundless was also just so beautiful and perfect. I am completely satisfied with the way the Unearthly trilogy closed. I can’t think of a better way for it to have ended! ;)

I’d give Boundless 5 out of 5 flowers. I’m sad that the series has to end, but I’m so excited to find out what Cynthia Hand has plans to write next.

  1. I love when an author makes me sad for the ending of a series (or even a standalone!). I skipped a bit of your review since I haven't read any of the series yet, but other than that it's great. I'm moving it up on my TBR list and hopefully will get to it soon. :)

  2. This was such a perfect ending!! <3

What I really liked about the love triangle in this series is that it made sense. Clara loved Tucker, but there were real reasons why she might feel she needed to be with Christian. I also liked that while I was definitely Team Tucker, I never hated Christian. He was a good guy, I just didn't want him with Clara. =b

  5. UGh! Can you believe I've read 1 & 2 on this one, too, but just not book three. I'm so happy to hear you think the series wound up nicely. I don't like to read the last book and be left disappointed. I was super bummed in #2 when Clara lost her mother. Now she's left to figure things out on her own. Her brother's ditched her two I hope they tie that up in the end. I'd like to see what happened to him.
