Which Cover? #3

Hi everyone! It's the third edition of Which Cover? and the first 2013 one. Here are all the new cover changes I found :)

Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood

Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #1)Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #1)
My Opinion: Older- I love the original cover. I think it's so pretty and much more intriguing. I also love the flowers! I think the new cover isn't very unique.

Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan

Glow (Sky Chasers, #1)Glow

My Opinion: Newer- I don't really like either cover too much, but I like how the letters have the girl inside them and the pink in the second one.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden, #1)The Immortal Rules
My Opinion: Older- I do not like the new cover for The Immortal Rules at all. It doesn't show anything about the book and I'd probably pass over it if I saw it a bookstore. I'm sad the paperback looks like that :(

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer

Nightshade (Nightshade, #1)Nightshade (Nightshade, #1)
My Opinion: Older- I recently read Rift, and now I'm super interested in reading the Nightshade series. I love the shade of purple used in the older cover and I just think it's much prettier, in general.

Which covers do you prefer? :)

  1. I really liked the earlier cover of Born Wicked and I'd definitely have picked it up on the cover alone but the later cover? Not so much. Although, it's not bad, it's just not what I'd go for.

I like simple covers that are stunning so the earlier cover for Glow is definitely better.

For The Immortal Rules, well, the earlier cover gives you an idea of a kick-ass heroine but the second one doesn't really which is pretty unusual cover for a YA book. But I liked both of them.

I loved the first cover of Nightshade but they didn't continues with the same girl/theme for the third one which was meh. Also, I think the wolf thing is really weird for the later cover, Like strange and not at all likable.

  2. I ADORE the original cover for Born Wicked. It was stunning. The newer one looks plain, but it does make me think witches, but still..I prefer the older one.

Haven't read Glow so I can't say much, but if I were to go buy a copy, I'd pick the newer one. The color pops and grabs my attention compared to the older one.

OMG. I so agree with you! I HATE the new covers for Immortal Rules and for the next book. UGH. It doesn't fit the story at all and it's sooo plain and boring. I'd pass it over too.

And for Nightshade, I love both. I prefer the newer one because it goes well with Calla and her persona.

Great picks! Can't wait for another one :)

  3. I love the original cover of Born Wicked. I believe that's the main reason why I want to read this book. That and good reviews of course. Glow I haven't read either, but I like the black cover more. I love the new covers for The Immoral Rules. It's seems like I'm the only one. xD
Nightshade - I love the first cover.

All in all great picks :)

  4. The old cover for The Immortal Rules is racist. The MC is Japanese, and the fact that the designers probably discussed this and still decided to pick a white girl to put on the cover... yeah, that just doesn't sit well with me :/ the new one is much better imho. It doesn't scream YA, but it's not racist and it does draw in an older audience that would otherwise ignore the original cover based on its YA-ness :)

  5. I actually agree with all of your choices! I really think the new Immortal Rules cover is just so bland now :/

  6. The new cover for Nightshade is...well, I'll say a little creepy. I love wolves and I love the colors, but it's just the girl and the wolf images make me think that one turns into a ghost for the other, sort of like neither can be "real" if the other one is around. Don't know if that has anything to do with the book, since I haven't yet read it. But it does look a tad creepy.

As for the new cover for The Immortal Rules it's just not as good as the old one. True, the girl is not Asian, but it's better than the other one. At least it the bloody tear makes you think vampire.

  7. -Born wicked: the original cover <3 The new one is also very pretty, but I prefer the position from the girl on the old cover. It's less standard.
-Glow: the new cover. The purple is pretty.
-The immortal rules: while the original cover isn't my favorite, I still prefer it over the new one. This one is so normal.
-Nightshade: I don't like both covers, but I think I go with the new cover. It's a bit more fascinating to look at.

  8. I like the original cover of Born Wicked best.
I like the new cover for Glow.
I like the original cover of Immortal Rules, but am on board w/the reason for the change.
I love the original Noghtshade cover. It was so gorgeous in real life.

I hate when publishers change covers mid-series. Hate. It's hard enough to afford all the books I want, but to then change it so that the covers don't match? So annoying.

  9. I like all the original covers better except for Glow. Seriously, I'm so peeved that Born Wicked changed covers. I thought that was one of the most gorgeous covers EVER! Ahh...it's killing me, lol :)

  10. I like all the original covers too. They're all so alluring and there's just something about them that catches the eye. The new covers aren't all that appealing. Great picks! :)

  11. Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood - I like both covers. But, I'm in the minority here that actually likes the newer cover. And, it matches book 2 as well.

Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan - The newer cover is alot better on this one.

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa - Older cover, definitely. I cannot understand how those newer covers on that series can be representing the story at all.

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer - Older cover again. Those newer covers are weird and kinda creepy.
