Unremembered by Jessica Brody Book Review

Unremembered (Unremembered, #1)The only thing worse than forgetting her past... is remembering it.

When Freedom Airlines flight 121 went down over the Pacific Ocean, no one ever expected to find survivors. Which is why the sixteen-year-old girl discovered floating among the wreckage—alive—is making headlines across the globe.

Even more strange is that he
r body is miraculously unharmed and she has no memories of boarding the plane. She has no memories of her life before the crash. She has no memories period. No one knows how she survived. No one knows why she wasn’t on the passenger manifest. And no one can explain why her DNA and fingerprints can’t be found in a single database in the world.

Crippled by a world she doesn’t know, plagued by abilities she doesn’t understand, and haunted by a looming threat she can’t remember, Seraphina struggles to piece together her forgotten past and discover who she really is. But with every clue only comes more questions. And she’s running out of time to answer them.

Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her from before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget?
I’ve really loved all of Jessica Brody’s books that I read. When I heard she had a new novel, Unremembered, coming out, I was so excited to read it! It was a book with a great plot and so many different twists and turns.

Unremembered follows a girl, Seraphina, who wakes up as the only survivor of a plane wreck with literally no memories of her entire life. A guy shows up who claims to know all about her past.

Unremembered is very different than Jessica Brody’s other books since it’s science fiction, not a contemporary. I usually don’t enjoy science-fiction, but I was surprised by how much I liked this one. The pieces to the mystery surrounding who Seraphina really was were super interesting, as they slowly revealed themselves and came together. As a character, Seraphina was okay. Unfortunately, nothing about her stood out too much to me and it’s not that I didn't like her, she was just not too easy to relate to. Also, the love interest, Zen, didn’t appeal to me that much. There were some side characters who I really liked and Cody, one of those characters, was definitely funny :) I didn’t feel a strong connection with most of the characters, but the other parts of the book were great.

The plot was definitely the best part of Unremembered. I was constantly trying to guess what would happen next to all the different characters and unravel pieces of the plot. There were several different elements involved, including science but it never got too confusing, which I was extremely happy about.

Unremembered was full of action and it had an amazing plot. It’s a great start to the new series. Although I didn’t like it quite as much as Jessica Brody’s other books, I’ll still be continuing the series. I’ll read all of Jessica Brody’s books as long as she writes them! :) I’d give it 3 1/2 out of 5 flowers.

  1. Great review!

I'm definitely buying this soon as it looks AMAZING! It's a pity you didn't feel a connection with the characters, but I'm glad the plot made up for it! :)

  2. I had thought this one looked interesting. I really need to try and pick it up sometime soon :) If the plot can make up for the characters, I'm fine :P

  3. I really enjoyed this one, but I completely agree that it's the plot of the book that stands out instead of the characters. There was nothing special about the characters. I was also kind of disappointed in the ending of the book, but I still had fun reading it and will most likely read the next one. Great review!
