How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer Book Review

How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come TrueFrom Sarah Strohmeyer, author of Smart Girls Get What They Want, comes this romantic comedy about one girl's summer job from hell. Think The Devil Wears Prada set in Disney World.

When cousins Zoe and Jess land summer internships at the Fairyland Kingdom theme park, they are sure they've hit the jackpot. With perks like hot Abercrombie-like Prince Charmings and a chance to win the coveted $25,000 Dream & Do grant, what more could a girl want.
Once Zoe arrives, however, she's assigned to serve "The Queen"-Fairyland's boss from hell. From spoon-feeding her evil lapdog caviar, to fetching midnight sleeping tonics, Zoe fears she might not have what it takes to survive the summer, much less win the money.
Soon backstabbing interns, a runaway Cinderella, and cutthroat competition make Zoe's job more like a nightmare than a fairy tale. What will happen when Zoe is forced to choose between serving The Queen and saving the prince of her dreams?

I loved Smart Girls Get What They Want, so I was really excited to read How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True. It was just as great as Sarah Strohmeyer’s debut novel, and it’s one of my new favorites!

Zoe is working the summer at Fairyland theme park, a rival to Disneyland. While there, all the summer interns are trying to win a grant that includes a very large cash prize. At the same time, there are several very cute Prince Charmings around ;)

Zoe was such an amazing character. Sarah Strohmeyer is able to effortlessly make very relatable, strong female leads. Zoe was a caring person, but she still wouldn’t let anyone push her around. She had also just lost her mother recently, and while that was a part of the plot, there were so many other things weaved in with it.

Since they are working at Fairyland, all the interns played different roles, everything from Puss and Boots to Cinderella. I loved the vivid imagery and all the hidden rules of working at a theme park. It was so cool, and it reminded me off all the great times I’ve had at various theme parks.

The romance was also very cute. Initially, one guy catches Zoe’s interest, but another guy soon comes into the picture. The relationship between him and Zoe was super sweet. Everything about it was awesome to read about.

How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True is a contemporary that I’d highly recommend. It's an amazing book with a great main character and super cute romance. I’d give it 5 out of 5 flowers :)

  3. I think it's time I read a Strohmeyer novel, because I've heard such great things and your review tells me that I really need to read this one. I love the idea of a modern day fairytale that isn't a re-telling. Great Review.
