I recently started reading The Body Finder series, and I’ve been loving it so far. As soon as I finished reading The Body Finder, I immediately started Desires of The Dead. It had a super engaging plot and a great mystery.
The mystery was definitely not as creepy as the mystery in the first book. Nonetheless, it was still very exciting and I was constantly trying to guess the next twist. Also, there was a new added threat from the FBI this time. That, along with the mystery itself, made Desires of The Dead incredibly engaging.
Violet also grew a lot more from the last book. She was a great protagonist, although I was definitely frustrated about some of the decisions she made throughout the book. I wanted her to trust Jay more and use better judgement in certain situations. However, Jay was so sweet and I grew to like him even more. He and Violet just have such an amazing relationship!
Like the last book, there were a few chapters told in the pov of the villain. Those were pretty interesting and creepy to read about, especially since those chapters played a pretty different role in this book then they had in the last one.
Overall, Desires of The Dead is a strong sequel, that’s just as good (if not better) as the first book. Kimberly Derting has definitely become one of my new favorite authors :) I’d give Desires of The Dead 4 out of 5 flowers.
