A Tale of Two Centuries by Rachel Harris Blog Tour Stop
Alessandra D’Angeli is in need of an adventure. Tired of her sixteenth-century life in Italy and homesick for her time-traveling cousin, Cat, who visited her for a magical week and dazzled her with tales of the future, Alessandra is lost. Until the stars hear her plea.
One mystical spell later, Alessandra appears on Cat’s Beverly Hills doorstep five hundred years in the futu
re. Surrounded by confusing gadgets, scary transportation, and scandalous clothing, Less is hesitant to live the life of a twenty-first century teen…until she meets the infuriating—and infuriatingly handsome—surfer Austin Michaels. Austin challenges everything she believes in…and introduces her to a world filled with possibility.
With the clock ticking, Less knows she must live every moment of her modern life while she still can. But how will she return to the drab life of her past when the future is what holds everything she’s come to love?
I absolutely loved My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century, so I was so excited to read the companion novel. A Tale of Two Centuries had a super sweet romance and told an amazing story!
Alessandra is a much different character than Cat, which created a contrast I really liked. She starts out as a pretty timid character and grows so much throughout the book. There’s definitely a lot of emphasis put on her personal growth, but the way it was incorporated into the plot was perfect. Although I didn’t like the way Alessandra changed in the beginning, over time I began to understand her decisions. By the end, I thought she was a much stronger character than she was at the beginning of the book.
There are so many hilarious scenes in the book. Since Alessandra is a sixteenth century girl, her reactions to so many of the things we have made me laugh out loud. I think the author did a great job of incorporating humor and realism into the plot :) It was also awesome to see what was happening with Cat. She has her own guy issues, but is still supportive to Alessandra. Their friendship was so amazing!
The romance was probably my favorite part of this book. Austin is one of my new favorite book guys ever. His protectiveness for Alessandra was so sweet and I also loved his vulnerable side. It didn't hurt that he was really funny, either ;) The romance in this book was so much different than the last one’s and definitely somewhat steamier. Austin and Alessandra made a super cute couple.
Overall, A Tale of Two Centuries is a great book I’d highly recommend. I’d give A Tale of Two Centuries 4 1/2 out of 5 flowers :)
