Right of Way by Lauren Barnholdt Book Review

Right of WayCan a road trip repair a romance gone wrong? Find out in this standalone companion to Lauren Barnholdt’s Two-way Street.
Here are Peyton and Jace, meeting on vacation. Click! It’s awesome, it’s easy, it’s romantic. This is the real deal.
Unless it isn’t. Because when you’re in love, you do
n’t just stop calling one day. And you don’t keep secrets. Or lie. And when your life starts falling apart, you’re supposed to have the other person to lean on.
Here are Peyton and Jace again, broken up but thrown together on a road trip. One of them is lying about the destination. One of them is pretending not to be leaving something behind. And neither of them is prepared for what’s coming on the road ahead…

Two Way Street was one of the first young adult books I’ve read. It was also really great! When heard there was going to be a companion, I was so excited. The companion took me on another amazing road trip.

The thing that I like in Lauren Barnholdt’s book is that, in some of them, she tells the story between past and present point of views. You’re not sure what happened in the past until it’s revealed to you in the chapters. Also, in Right of Way, the story was told from both Payton and Jace’s point of views. I think it was great that both point of views were shown, especially since it really helped me better understand both characters and their motivations.

The story was a lot of fun to read, especially once you realized all the things that each character was running from. Their was some humor infused also; and there was one particular scene that I found so funny! Lauren Barnholdt’s book are nothing if not entertaining and I loved how Jace’s and Payton’s relationship developed. Both characters were so different, but perfect for each other.

The one thing that I wished could have been done differently in Right of Way was the ending. It left things pretty unfinished to me, and I really wanted to see how all the unresolved things would end up.

Overall, Right of Way is another great book from Lauren Barnholdt. If you haven’t read a book by her, I’d highly recommend it! :) I’d give Right of Way 4 out of 5 flowers.

  1. I have yet to read a book by Lauren Barnholdt but I have heard nothing but great things about her work so I am very excited to get my hands on this. It sounds totally cute, and I actually read a review for a low rating for this one, but your review has left me wanting to read it again. I think the past-present writing style will be very interesting. Glad you enjoyed this, Montana! Great review! :D
