Stacking the Shelves #34 (The Emily Edition)

Oh well hello there! I bet you were expecting Montana to share with you what books she got this week. WELL SURPRISE!!! Today you're stuck with me! (But don't worry, I like to buy books too!)

I have to forewarn you that my birthday is coming up and I went a little crazy at the bookstore and ended up buying an early birthday gift to myself. (BAD EMILY!) There were a lot of books I had recently read that I didn't actually own so...yeah. I might have gotten a little too excited with the money.

So here is what I've collected over the past couple of weeks.
Bought:

New on my Nook:

Goddess by Josephine Angelini- I bought a whole bunch of books that I had recently finished and let me tell you, this book rocked...of course I needed the complete series on my shelf!

Sever by Lauren DeStefano- Another third book in a trilogy that blew me away...and it is also green. Weird.

Shadows in the Silence by Courtney Allison Moulton- I'm beginning to sense a theme here. A green book that just happens to be the final book in a trilogy! I've finished this one yet, but I'm reading it right now and it's definitely keeping me on the edge of my seat.

Requiem by Lauren Oliver- I still can't but help feeling conflicted about this book, but it definitely deserved a spot on my shelves!

Shades of Earth by Beth Revis- I promise this is the last green book....and though I still can't get over the fact that she changed the covers, I needed this book!

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier- Saw this book on Amazon for super cheap and I couldn't resist! I'm so hooked to this series all of a sudden, I tried watching the movie in German. Didn't work out so great, but I'm still so ecstatic for the third book in the series to come out!

Life After Theft by Aprilynne Pike- I love the fact that this book is a retelling of the Scarlet Pimpernel. Can't wait to see how she pulls this off!

Spellcaster by Claudia Gray-I love witches and I love Claudia Gray. Easy enough!

The Elite by Kiera Cass- This book was crazy (in a good way?), and the covers for this series are so gorgeous, I needed both of them!

Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard- I've heard so many good things about this series, I need to get started on it!

Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger- A lot of my children patrons at the library talk about this book so I thought it was high time I got started on it.

Slide by Jill Hathaway- This book hasn't always gotten the best reviews, but the idea sounds awesome and it was a really cheap ebook!

Smart Girls Get What They Want by Sarah Strohmeyer- Another ebook deal that I couldn't resist! Just recently read this author's other book in one reading session so I'm sure this one will be good as well.

So many books...so little time.

What did you get this week? I'd love to visit your Stacking The Shelves.

Oh hello there! My name is Emily, though some of you may know me as the Bookie Monster. As the name would suggest, I devour books like the Cookie Monster devours cookies. In my spare time, I like to bake cookies (and devour those as well) and dream about taking over the world. As if my book obsession wasn't life consuming enough,

I work in the children's room at my local library and I am currently a sophomore in college majoring in English. It's safe to say I'm a bit of a book fanatic. I discreetly shed a few tears on my eleventh birthday when I did not receive my Hogwarts acceptance letter and I waited seven hours outside in the rain just to get a good seat at the Hunger Games midnight premiere. I'm terrified of blood and Disney movies make me cry (in a good way). My passions include hippos, hugs, and Hans Zimmer…and uh,long walks on the beach. I'm just a normal girl w
ith a slightly abnormal and frightfully expensive obsession. Nice to meet you!

  2. Hi Emily,
Great haul! I'm so jealous of your lovely hardbacks, particularly Life After Theft and Requiem. The Elite was a book I enjoyed but such a whirlwind of emotions. Be ready to have your heart ripped out and stomped on. Happy Reading :)

  8. I'm still quite conflicted over Requiem too, mostly because of the ending. I'm really curious about Shannon Messenger's books -- I've heard some great things! And I hope you enjoy Something Strange and Deadly. I thought it was quite a good read. :)

  9. Haha. I've been curious about Life After Theft for the sole reason that is is based on The Scarlet Pimpernel. I just love that character - the Pimpernel. I'm assuming you've seen the Anthony Andrews movie? It's the BEST!

Anyway, enjoy all your goodies and happy reading :)
