Notable by Marni Bates Book Review

Notable (Awkward, #3)
I take no prisoners…
I'm Chelsea Halloway and I will happily destroy your social life if you mess with me. Just ask anyone. There is no situation I can't handle. Divorcing parents? No problem. An ex-boyfriend who wants to date Smith High School's biggest geek instead of me? Just a matter of time before I can make him see reason. At least, until my pare

nts decide to ship me off on a study abroad trip to Cambodia…
Now instead of being admired as the queen of the Notables, I'm stuck with a bunch of college students who don't take me seriously, and a professor who accidentally landed himself on the wrong side of a drug lord. And it's up to me to get us all out of the country alive--even the annoying jerk with the green eyes who won't stop calling me "princess."
Oh yeah, what could possibly go wrong?

Awkward was hilarious, and I was so curious to see how  a book with mean girl Chelsea as the main character would turn out. It didn't disappoint and by far my favorite book by Marni Bates, Notable is a book I’d recommend to just about anyone!

Chelsea is the mean girl in high school. She’s the one that everyone hates, but secretly wants to be. I expected her to be unlikable, and I was so surprised at how the author made her out to be. I think Marni Bates did an amazing job at making Chelsea a character you can’t help but sympathize with and learn to like over time. Her spunk was awesome and it definitely helped her later in the story ;)

In the beginning of Notable, Chelsea is still hung up on her old boyfriend, Logan. When a new romance began to start, I did have some doubts on whether or not it would actually work out. The characters just seemed so different. By the end of the book, I was definitely convinced they would work out. Chelsea and the other character balanced each other out perfectly.

The character development was so well done, and I loved how it was more about Chelsea coming to terms with who she was. The trip to Cambodia definitely helped that. The plot was so hilarious, especially with the turn of events that happened in Cambodia. It was such a shocking twist, and definitely made this novel as interesting as it was.

Notable is an amazing continuation to the Awkward series. I’m so excited to see what character’s story will be told next in the series. If you’re looking for a fun series filled with humor and wit, I’d highly recommend this one. I’d give Notable 4 out of 5 flowers.

  1. This series seems a little typical but I think I will try them on a lazy day!

  2. I haven't tried the Awkward series yet, but I do fancy seeing princess Chelsea go up against a Cambodian drug lord and show the college students how it's done... :-) Do you think I can skip the first book and go straight to this one? Awesome review honey. I don't like the cover, so I would not have ordinarily picked this one up, but you have persuaded me I should!

  3. I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, Montana! I LOVED it! And I hadn't read Awkward before. I actually went out and bought the other two companion novels because Marni Bates' writing is so good :D And I agree that I was surprised how likable Chelsea was, even though she was essentially the "mean girl" of her school.
