Sealed With a Lie by Kat Carlton Book Review and Giveaway

Sealed with a Lie (Two Lies and a Spy, #2)In this sequel to the romantic spy-thriller Two Lies and a Spy, Kari must race the clock on a mission to save her little brother.
Kari Andrews thought life was going to get easier. She was wrong. Following the events of Two Lies and a Spy, she and her brother, Charlie, are left to cope with the aftermath while also
adapting to a new school—in another country. And then Charlie disappears.
With her brother’s life hanging in the balance, Kari, Evan, Rita, Kale, and some new friends from Generation Interpol (G.I.) are on a race around Europe at the bidding of a voice on a phone. The voice tells them that they need to jailbreak a thief—a flirtatious, hot thief—steal something from a high-security bio lab, and deliver the goods during what’s sure to be a double-cross exchange. Can they succeed before Charlie pays the ultimate price?

I love spy novels, and after the conclusion to the Gallagher Girls series two years ago, I was looking for a new spy series! I stumbled upon Two Lies and A Spy and instantly fell in love with it. It’s actually quite different from the Gallagher Girls series, and I picked up the sequel this month as it just released. The sequel was another one of those books that’s even better than the first book and this series has definitely cemented itself as one of my all time favorites.

Kari, the main character of this series, is the daughter of two spies and is training for Interpol after the events of the previous book. Her brother ends up getting taken, which sets up the premise for this installment. Kari is such an awesome, kick-butt character. She’s kind of oblivious to certain things (like flirting), which made certain parts especially hilarious to read about ;) She’s probably one of my top ten favorite book characters of all time.

The whole cast of characters is pretty great! Kari teams up with several other people to rescue her brother. One of my favorite characters in the last novel, Evan, still has a major role in this book. Evan is hilarious and in my opinion, the perfect book boyfriend. He’s confident, and yet super sweet, too. I feel like I can’t do him justice. If you read the book, you’ll see what I’m talking about ;). Gustav, a flirty young thief, is a character introduced in this book. He was another hilarious aspect of the story with his constant commentary in situations that weren’t the best.

The storyline got pretty intense at certain parts, with some graphic scenes. It’s a clean book for the most part, but there are definitely some strong scenes towards the end.

I love, love, loved the ending! It was so adorable and completely and utterly perfect. I may have reread it a time- or ten. I’d give Sealed With A Lie 4.5 out of 5 flowers.
I feel like this series is an overlooked one, so I thought it’d be fun to do a giveaway for three paperback copies of the first book in this series, Two Lies and a Spy, so that more people will have the chance to read it. This giveaway is open internationally :)
