Teen Angst? Naaah... by Ned Vizzini Book Review

"The events in these stories are real. Some names have been changed so I don't get yelled at."
Ned Vizzini writes about the weird, funny, and sometimes mortifying moments that made up his teen years. With wit, irony, and honesty, "Teen Angst? Naaah..." invites you into his world of school, parents, street people, rock bands, friends, fame, camp, sex (sort of), Cancun (almost), prom, beer, Nintendo, the cool (and almost cool), and more. A Holden Caulfield for Generation Y, Ned Vizzini is an original voice to be reckoned with, read, and enjoyed.

Teen Angst? Naaah... is a book by Ned Vizzini about his life as a teen. I picked it up from the bookstore out of curiosity and it was on sale so win-win! I don't really know what I was expecting out of this but I got some good laughs out of it.

This book takes us through the highlights of Vizzini's high school career. All of them were short little stories that had me laughing and it's just a collection of short stories, really. It's a good book to pass time with and I think it really depicts some of the things that teenagers go through. Even though he went through this a decade or two ago I still think it's good to read about it.

I haven't actually read any other of Vizzini's books so I can't say how this compares. I think the author has a really good voice in his stories and I could really connect to him. I gotta say, he's a cooler kid back in his days than I am now haha. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a short, light and humourous read.

My name's Ariella and I'm a 15 year old Canadian girl that loves to read. Everything began with a book called the Lightning Thief and from there I was hooked. I enjoy and read all kinds of genres but my favourites are paranormal and mythology. I love reading YA books but I love Middle Grade books as well. I also blog over at Secrets of Lost Words. You can usually find me crawling on twitter so feel free to contact me!

  3. Oh no I could never read this now :( He committed suicide less than a year ago and it's still too fresh in my mind. I'm glad you liked it though, he was such a great writer and truly understood teen troubles.
