2015 Book Blogger Love-a-thon Intro Post

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be participating in the Love-a-thon this weekend :) It's my first time participating and I love the concept behind it. Here are the answers to the questionnaire:
What’s your name?

Where in the world are you blogging from?
Southern California, United States

How did you get into blogging in the first place?
While searching for a review of Unearthly by Cynthia Hand, I stumbled across a review for it on The Book Barbies blog. I hadn't even known book blogs existed before that, and I thought it was so cool that there was a way to share your opinion of books with other book lovers! A few months later, I co-founded The Book Belles and have been blogging ever since.

How did you come up with your blog name?
The Book Belles was originally founded with one of my friends, Alex, who later had to leave due to school obligations. We met at Panera and spent forever trying to think of a name for the blog. She suggested The Book Belles, and we both loved the name.

What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?
That would definitely have to be contemporary! :) I’m hosting the 2015 YA Contemporary Challenge this year.

What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?
I do Which Cover? posts, author (and sometimes blogger) interviews, Stacking The Shelves, cover reveals, and the occasional Waiting on Wednesday, Top Ten Tuesday and discussion post.

Best blogging experience so far?

I’ve had so many amazing opportunities! I’ve loved attending ALA and meeting fellow bloggers and incredible authors. It was a lot of fun to co-host the Contemporary Scavenger Hunt last year, though. That’s definitely been one of my favorite experiences :)

Favorite thing about the blogging community?
The blogging community was so welcoming to me when I started out and there are so many amazing people that I’ve had the chance to interact with and befriend. There’s always someone available to chat with about books, too :)

An Ember in the AshesName the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2015!
This is so difficult! They are: Vendetta by Catherine Doyle, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, All Played Out by Cora Carmack, Confess by Colleen Hoover, and Every Last Breath by Jennifer Armentrout.

What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?
Smart Girls Get What They Want by Sarah Strohmeyer: This is one of my all time favorite books! This book is so true to high school and the characters are some of the most relatable that I've ever read about. I hosted my first readalong for it.

Smart Girls Get What They WantWhich book boy or girl would be your book BFF?
Gigi from Smart Girls Get What They Want: The group of friends in this book reminds me so much of my own group of friends. If Gigi went to my high school, I'd definitely want to be friends with her.

Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?
I love shopping, watching basketball, and scrapbooking (although I haven’t had too much time to do that recently).

Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?
I love buying CDs, especially One Direction and 5SOS ones. I also like buying nail polish, and postcards from places I visit.

At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?
At the moment, Shake it Off by Taylor Swift. It’s so catchy and I love its message.

The Naturals (The Naturals, #1)Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.
The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes or the Hundred Oaks series by Miranda Kenneally: I think The Naturals could have a very Veronica Mars-esque vibe (which is one of my favorite shows), but is different enough to stand out. The Hundred Oaks series is one of my favorites and I think it’d translate great as a TV series.

  1. I've not yet read Smart Girls Get What They Want, but it sounds like a great book! And Taylor Swift is the best <3 But my favorite thing about your post? You saying you'd love to see the Hundred Oaks series as a TV show! I feel very much the same way.

    Thanks for joining the Love-a-Thon!

  2. Happy loveathon! I read The Secrets of Lily Graves by Sarah Strohmeyer and it didn't work for me, but I've heard great things about her contemporaries! I plan to give her another try.

  3. The Naturals would definitely be an interesting tv show! I've never seen Veronica Maris but I read The Naturals and also the sequel!

  4. Oh, I love Shake it Off! I'm. really loving Blank Space right now too :)

I still need to read The Naturals, I love thrillers so I'm not sure why I haven't read it yet.

  5. I love Shake if Off as well!! :) You're definitely more of a Contemp reader than I am, but The Naturals sounds really interesting!! I just put it on my TBR. Thanks :)

  6. I like that you want certain books to be TV shows. We often think of them being movies, but sometimes, they really WOULD be better as a tv series.

  7. I-I-I shake it off!! <3 Ooh, the history behind this blog is interesting. It is a pain in the [sass haha] to gouge up a name and it also took me a while to ponder on my choices XD I am more of a ya fantasy and less of ya contemporary but I read both anyway. Thanks for sharing, Montana! :D

  8. I love Smart Girls Get What They Want, and Shake It Off! I also really like CDs, and I need to get some more so I can listen to them in my car!

  9. I think The Naturals would make a great TV show!! Great choice!

  10. I'm excited for All Played Out! I recently read the first book in that series and I LOVED it. :)
