Colleen Hoover Signing Recap

*From HPB's Twitter

When the November 9 launch party was announced at the Dallas Half Price Books, I knew I had to go. I'm a huge fan of Colleen Hoover and she's written some of my all-time favorite books, especially Maybe Someday. (It's such an amazing, emotional read!) The launch party was such an awesome experience and while I didn't take too many pictures, I recorded most of the Q & A. Here it is:

Of the guys you've written, which one do you think that you'd personally connect to the most?

Daniel from Finding Cinderella. I'm not too romantic of a person, and humor is one of the qualities I value most in a guy. If a guy was saying all this cheesy romantic stuff, I'd probably be like "dude- stop".

What inspired you to become a writer?

My family is who I wrote Slammed for, as they wanted to read it, and it gave me the motivation to finish it. They always wanted to read what I wrote.

Someone in the audience commented that she was really active on Facebook with her fans and asked why/how she's able to do it.

Knowing what it's like to not have too much growing up, I feel that it makes me very appreciative of the career I'm able to have. I want to do good things with being an author.

Is there a scene you would never rewrite or change?

I really love the scene in Maybe Someday where they write the Maybe Someday song.

How many Sharpies do you think you've used signing books?

In the past three years, over a thousand. I like Sharpies sharp, so I'll sign 30 books or so before I use a new one. That's my diva moment. They're called "Sharpies", not "Dullies".

When will Never Never: Part 3 release?

January 26, 2016 (I am so excited!)

How many of the songs did you write in Maybe Someday?

I wrote maybe half of the songs for the book. I had to rewrite every scene in the book that had a song when there were problems with the original songwriter for the novel. Griffin ended up writing a bunch of music to fit in with the book. He wrote a song for November 9 that's coming out next week.

What's your biggest pet peeve?

I don't know, I'm a pretty even-keeled person. It's maybe bad music, as bad music that I don't like irritates me. My bookshelf opens up to a secret room where I write, and it's quiet, with no windows. I have to have complete silence when I write.

The following are the books I had signed:

I am so excited to start November 9! It already has amazing reviews and I have yet to read a book by Colleen Hoover that I don't like :)
